  • Don't question a member's motives.  The measure, not the member, is the subject of debate.  RONR (11th ed.), p. 43 ll. 19-20 

  •  Avoid the use of member's names and name calling.  When referencing other people, use titles. RONR (11th ed.), p. 43 ll. 20-22 


  • Speakers must address their remarks to the chair, and maintain a courteous tone.  RONR (11th ed.), P. 392, ll. 16-19.


  • "Calling the Question", or the "Previous Question" is the motion used to stop debate, and to bring the assembly to an immediate vote on one or more pending questions.  RONR (11th ed.). p. 197, ll. 26-29


  • Adopting or "ordering" the Previous Question immediately closes debate on, and stops amendment of the immediately pending question and such other pending questions as the motion may specify.RONR (11th ed.). p. 200, l. 24    

  • If someone speaks without being recognized, STOP THEM.


  • If someone makes personal remarks, STOP THEM.


  • If someone questions the motives of others, STOP THEM.
